NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Drivers in Northampton will now have to pay more to park their cars.
On Thursday night, the City Council voted on the increase following a recommendation by Mayor David Narkewicz, who, last June, noted that parking fees hadn't changed in six years.
Drivers who purchase monthly passes for the John Gare Garage behind Thornes Marketplace or park in any of the long term lots along Hampton Avenue, Old South Street, & West Street, will have to pay more. Monthly leases for the parking garage went up $15 to $90, long term lot permits and long term parking meter permits went up from $30 to $45.
The change went into effect immediately. For a detailed list of the lots, visit the City of Northampton’s website at northamptonma.gov
