NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The Superintendent of the Northampton Public Schools is criticizing how officials at Northampton High School handled a threat investigation.

In December a threatening note was found in the boy's bathroom. Days later, the Northampton Police allegedly asked school officials to get a writing sample from all the students in the school.

It was a way for students to unknowingly help police in their investigation.

Superintendent Brian Salzer says the school did not follow protocol.

The incident is still being investigated.
