(CNN-WWLP) - Anne O'Brien , mother of Phoebe Prince , appeared on national television Wednesday night. The grieving mother talked about the death of her daughter, who took her own life after reportedly being bullied at South Hadley High School.
During her interview on the Piers Morgan Show, O'Brien said that she believes Phoebe would still be alive if school personnel hadn't failed. She said that the culture of the school contributed to the bullying of her daughter.
"It was very painful because you realize that as a parent, no matter what I did, no matter how many times I called the school, no matter how many people I might have spoken to there, that she didn't stand a chance there," O'Brien said.
O'Brien said that because she knew her daughter was under stress, she even booked her a trip back to Ireland. The flight was scheduled for a date two weeks after Prince committed suicide.
"I was shocked, stunned. You don't expect to come home and find that your amazing kid has been pushed to such a limit,” O’Brien said.
Former Northwestern District Attorney Elizabeth Schiebel also appeared on the show with Prince's mother. Schiebel talked about the decision of charging the alleged bullies as adults.
