Pedestrian hit by pickup truck in Northampton

35-year-old man suffered head injuries

NORHTAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - An unidentified Hampshire County man is being treated for a head injury after a pickup truck hit him crossing a street in Northampton Wednesday night.

Northampton Police Sergeant Robert Powers told 22News the victim was sent to Baystate medical Center in Springfield for treatment for head injuries.

The accident happened near the Old School Commons on New South Street at 4:42 pm Wednesday.

A sections of route 10 near the route 9 merge was  closed to traffic for a time while the Northampton Police Accident reconstruction Team determined how and why the accident happened.

Sgt. Powers said it waqs unclear whether the victim was a Northampton resident , or if her was from Hatfield.
