PELHAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Pelham residents can now file police reports online.
Pelham Police Chief Gary Thomann unveiled the online reporting service two weeks ago.
File your police report online
It allows residents to not only file a police report, but also to file complaints with the Board of Health, transportation office, and animal control.
You can access the website from a computer or smartphone. Once you submit your report, the department head receives an email.
Thomann says this service helps them reach more people, especially since as the department’s only full-time employee, there is not always someone at the station.
“We only have usually one officer on duty at a time, so if they come and they knock on the door, there's not an officer here. This gives them that ability to go on their leisure, go online and report stuff that's happened in the past,” Thomann said.
The chief points out that this service shouldn't be used for emergencies.
The online reporting service is not unique to small-town departments. Larger police forces like those in Northampton and Amherst also offer online reporting.
