People are rushing to buy baked treats

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of shoppers crowded Easthampton grocery stores Wednesday in last minute preparation for Thanksgiving; many were on the hunt for baked treats.

It's been a very busy Wednesday in Hampshire County. 22News noticed because we were stuck in traffic for most of the day. And foot traffic took over Big E's Supermarket in Easthampton Wednesday.
        
By noon, the bakery had sold more than 200 pies. Baker Patty Pariseau told 22News baked goods are a big favorite for the holidays. Employees have been stocking and baking since last week to get ready for the rush of shoppers.

According to Pariseau, “We've probably sold about 100 apple and 100 pumpkin. We've started preparing since Sunday getting pies ready and a lot of snowflake rolls for $1.50.”

Raymond Fleury of Holyoke told 22News, “I noticed I needed a few last things, such as my squash my turnip and delicious pumpkin pie for the holiday.”

“It's very hectic and there's a lot of people out that don't usually drive,” said John Magee IV of Southampton.

Pariseau says they expect to sell out of many of the baked goods, especially the pies.
