Police investigating person found outside Northampton parking garage

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A street in downtown Northampton was closed to traffic while police and emergency response personnel investigated the circumstances surrounding a person who jumped or fell from the city parking garage just after 7:30 Friday night.

Police closed off Old South Street from Main Street down to Hampton Avenue. Streets reopened around 11:15 Friday night.

A 22News crew witnessed someone on the ground on the New South Street side of the garage.

No other information was available.

Cars were able to enter and exit the garage at the entrance on Hampton Avenue.

Northampton Police Lt. Jodi Kasper told 22News the victim had serious injuries and was taken to Baystate Medical Center.
