GOSHEN, Mass. (WWLP) -  The Northwestern District Attorney's Office has identified the man who drowned in Goshen Saturday night as 49 year old Orlando Burgos of Westfield.

At approximately 7:30 PM Saturday, State Police, Environmental Police and Goshen Police responded to a reported possible drowning at Upper Highland Lake in the DAR State Forest camp grounds off Route 112 in the town of Goshen.

According to Northwestern D.A. Spokeswoman, Mary Carey, "The body of Orlando Burgos, 49, of 40 Franklin St., Westfield, was recovered underwater sometime later following a search.  The body was brought to shore by members of the Northfield Dive Team."

Burgos and two others were in a canoe about 40 to 50 feet from shore, when the canoe capsized. The other occupants were able to swim to shore.

"Attempts by bystanders to rescue Burgos, who sunk below the water, were unsuccessful.  The death appears to be accidental in nature," Carey told 22News.
