LEEDS, Mass. (WWLP) - A small but powerful storm cell packed a punch in Northampton Saturday afternoon.

Residents in the Leeds section of the city lost power after several trees fell, taking out power lines and utility poles.

Heavy wind gusts cause power to be knocked out on Dimock Road as well as Chesterfield Road.

One resident told 22News how quickly the storm rolled in.

“All the sudden it was very windy with very hard rain. All the sudden half an hour later power was knocked out,” Wayne Blair told 22News.

The Blair family also told 22News that they had purchased a generator because of weather related power outages becoming more frequent within the past year.
