AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - In Amherst, a public forum was held Tuesday night to discuss health and safety concerns of town residents.
Amherst Town Manager John Musante told 22News that the Safe and Healthy Neighborhood Initiative is working to identify quality of life issues in the community, mainly among renters and property owners.
Musante says the 18 member group will develop a set of recommendations that will help landlords and renters maintain safe and affordable housing.
“Our work group has been called the safe and healthy neighborhoods because those are the two principle goals of this effort, is to make all of our neighborhoods including those close to the university campus as safe as they possibly can be,” Musante said.
Musante says he expects the group to present its recommendations by March first.
The next public forum for the group will be held January 29th at town hall at 7pm.
