Restaurant fire caused by plumber's torch

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - Fire investigators have determined the cause of the fire that destroyed the Crack of Dawn restaurant in South Hadley.

South Hadley Fire Capt. Kurt Schenker told 22News that the fire was started by a plumber's torch. 

Crews were renovating the vacant side of the Bridge Street building that shared space with the restaurant. Capt. Schenker says the open flame from the plumber's torch is what started the fire.

Crack of Dawn had been a part of the town for more than two decades.
