NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Deliberations continue in Northampton on Wednesday, in the state's first murder case involving a same-sex married couple.
On Tuesday, jurors in the murder trial of Cara Rintala told the judge on that they still need more time.
Rintala has pleaded not guilty to a first degree murder charge in the death of her wife, Annamarie. She was found dead in the basement of their Granby home back in March 2010. The women had been married for two years and were raising a child together; they were also both paramedics.
The prosecution believes Rintala strangled and beat Annamarie to death. But the defense said there isn't enough evidence.
