NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The murder trial of Cara Lee Rintala is now in the hands of the jury.
At the Hampshire County Courthouse in Northampton Thursday, jurors heard closing arguments.
Cara Lee Rintala has pleaded not guilty to a first degree murder charge in the death of her wife Annamarie Rintala. She was found dead in the couples home in March of 2010.
Thursday the defense attorney and prosecutor provided their closing arguments.
Defense Attorney David Hoose said, "And ask yourselves a simple question, was she treated like a spouse who just lost her loved one? Or was she treated like someone who was suspected or murdering her spouse? I think the answer to that is obvious....from the evidence?"
Prosecutor Steven Gagne said, "We don't need to disprove every far-fetched speculative, wacky theory, lacking evidence that the defense may throw against the wall in this case hoping that something sticks."
