AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Atkins Farms ’ cider donuts are synonymous with fall in the Valley, but a new business venture will make the scent of the treat a year-round occasion.
Kringle Candle and Atkins Farms have joined forces and announced a joint venture. On Wednesday, the Bernardston fragrant candle company revealed its newest scent: the Cider Donut Candle.
The release of the candle comes months after rotary construction took a chunk of business out of the famous South Amherst market.
“We are just now beginning to get our customers back to where we were before. So, we are building there and I think this is dynamic,” said Pauline Lannon, President of the Atkins Farms.
Kringle Candle opened in 2009 under the direction of Michael Kittredge, founder of Yankee Candle. Kittredge told 22News the unique collaboration stimulates the local economy and could prompt other high-profile businesses in the area to do the same.
“I think it’s an example of two businesses getting together, we are trying to help the economy along and we are trying to create more jobs. And by putting your heads together and looking at what you’ve go going is a positive already,” said Michael Kittredge, CEO of Kringle Candle, who predicts the fragrance will be most popular here in the Northeast.
President of Kringle Candle, Mick Kittredge, told 22News it took eating dozens of donuts and a year of tests to replicate the aroma.
“The cinnamon, and the sugar accords and the donut accords of the fragrance really came together and married well. And has tested incredibly well and I’m just thrilled to launch it internationally,” said Mick Kittredge at the unveiling in South Amherst.
The Cider Donut Candle will be available for sale at Atkins Farms, Kringle’s flagship store in Bernardston, and resellers nationwide.
