Should happy hour be brought back?

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Debate continues over whether to bring Happy Hour back to Massachusetts.

Renewed discussion began after the casino law passed, allowing free drinks for its patrons.

Bar owners say it gives them an unfair advantage, but some believe happy hours encourage drunk driving.

"My concern is with drunk driving that if someone is getting free drinks or discounted drinks they're very much prone to drink more, and it's putting innocent people at risk,” Abrite Medore of Leverett said.

The next hearing on the issue takes place in Boston August 21st and another will be in Northampton on September 18th.
