NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - It might have been the fog that kept the driver from seeing the height limit sign before getting his big rig stuck under the bridge heading out of downtown Northampton Monday night.
An 18-wheeler was just a little too tall for the eleven-foot limit for the rail road bridge over Main Street, just as you leave town near Fitzwilly's Restaurant & Bar.
Northampton Police Lt. Jody Kasper told 22News traffic was snarled for about a half hour on both Main and Bridge Streets.
"The trailer was totaled and towed away and the driver was cited for not paying attention to the signs," Lt Kasper told 22News.
The trailer was empty, which made the cleanup go much faster. No one was hurt.
