UMass holds multicultural film event

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) - The University of Massachusetts at Amherst is kicking off a film festival that will include features and documentaries from several foreign countries.

The festival's curator says there's a special emphasis on European productions that highlight cultural diversity.

Festival presentations will include a tale set in 1980s East Germany, a thriller about teenage friends in Spain, and a film that includes testimonies of Holocaust survivors and the meaning of the numbers tattooed on their bodies.

The festival opens Wednesday and weekly screenings will continue until April.
