AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Students at University of Massachusetts in Amherst did their part Sunday to help people better understand Autism, a disorder that effects many hundreds of children here in western Massachusetts
The Sigma Delta Tau sorority and Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity got behind a 5 mile run and 3 mile walk from the Amherst town common Sunday afternoon.
Indira Kris of Amherst told 22News she has two children diagnosed with Autism. "One has Aspergers, one has Autism and my son whose fourteen decided to run, and the one with autism and he's fighting hard to beat this and show the world it can be done."
Sunday's Autism Speaks event was designed not only to raise awareness but provide inspiration for young people coping with an Autistic disorder.
