GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) - A pedestrian killed while walking along School Street in Granby has been identified as a 61 year-old woman from Florida.

Sgt. Mark Smith of the Granby Police Department told 22News that Faith Schauer-Swift of Maitland, Florida has been identified as the woman killed in Sunday afternoon’s accident.

According to Smith, Schauer-Swift was walking northbound on the shoulder of the southbound lane of School Street, when she was struck by a car driven by 20 year-old Tessa Desjardins of Belchertown.

Desjardins, who had been traveling southbound at the time of the crash, stayed at the crash site as police and firefighters arrived. The investigation into the accident continues, but Desjardins has not been charged.

School Street was closed to traffic for five hours following the accident.
