GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) - A wounded war veteran from western Massachusetts will soon be coming home to a new house, thanks to the work of a nonprofit organization.
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt Joshua Bouchard broke his back and lost his leg after an IED blast in Afghanistan back in 2009. He now gets around in a wheelchair. Mindful of the sacrifice he made for our country, the Taunton-based nonprofit Homes For Our Troops has been working to build Bouchard a new home since the beginning of this year. In two weeks, Bouchard will finally get the key and move in.
Homes For Our Troops has been working with A. Crane Construction and the Homebuilders & Remodelers Association of western Massachusetts to build the home in Granby. It is designed to provide Bouchard with maximum freedom-of-movement, and the ability to live independently.
Though Homes For Our Troops is a Massachusetts-based organization, they have been building specially-adapted homes for wounded war veterans across the country. For more information on how you can help them in their mission, visit their website at homesforourtroops.org
