Yahoo cracking down on working from home

Company prohibiting practice among its workers

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - It's back to the office for all Yahoo workers, as the company is now not allowing its employees to do any work from home at all.

Yahoo said in a statement, "This isn't a broad industry view on working from home. This is about what is right for Yahoo right now."

Nearly 10% of Americans work from home at least one day a week, but Yahoo is not alone in restricting this trend. Other companies like Google, Zappos, and Bank of America have reduced options for telecommuting as well.

Some people are shocked to hear about this policy change. They say working from home allows employees to have flexibility; which could help with their physical and mental health.

“Some moms, after they give birth, it's hard for them to leave their baby, and if they can work from home, it'll help their relationship with the baby and keeping the work balance,” Tenzin Kunsang of Amherst said.

A recent survey says two-thirds of companies still allow workers to work remotely.
