CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - We've had one of the warmest springs on record, and it looks like it's shaping up to be a very hot summer. So this week on 22News inFocus, we're working for you with the information you need to know to beat the heat.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Adam Strzempko will discuss severe thunderstorms, lightning and the other weather hazards we've been facing this summer. You'll also hear from a doctor, who will reveal how you can protect yourself and your family from the dangers of heat related illnesses.

Unfortunately, many people take desperate measures to cool off during the summer. So we'll also have two public safety experts to tell you how to prevent drowning and avoid taking the risks that could cost you your life.

We won't forget about your pets! We'll have a representative from the Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society to tell you how you can keep your animals cool, comfortable and safe this summer.
