LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - 22News was the only local station inside Ludlow Mills where the Speaker of the House, Robert DeLeo, got a tour of the 170 acre plot of land that Westmass Area Development Corporation is trying to fix up.

Right now, Ludlow only receives about $100,000 in taxes from this property. When the project is done, Ludlow could get about $2 million in taxes a year.

The 15 year project could generate 2,500 jobs. The project would cost about $300 million, most of the money would be private investment. Developers want about $5 million from the state to clean up the Brownfield site and fix infrastructure, like the water mains.

Speaker DeLeo told 22News he will try to see if stimulus funds can be used to make this project happen.
