SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - On the day before Easter more than 1,000 Springfield area residents re-affirmed their faith with a march for Jesus through downtown Springfield.

One observer told 22News, the second annual event from upper State street to city hall attracted more than three times as many people as last year.

Organizers told 22News, they were able to get the word to more potential marchers this year.

Marchers told 22News, the event filled them with spirituality.

“I feel it empowers our community and helps us in our beliefs this is the lord of New England,” said Deborah Rodriguez of Feeding Hills.

The communities are coming together. and just supporting what they believe in trusting in God, pretty much trusting in Jesus, said Jason Sanchez of Chicopee.
