Springfield is kicking off the Christmas season with the Tower Square Parade of the Big Balloons.
The festival steps off at 11a.m. Friday morning, which includes giant helium filled balloons, a parade of Massachusetts National Guard military vehicles and marching bands.
Maj. Gen. Joseph Carter Adjutant General of the National Guard will lead the balloons.
Some of the balloons this year include a 75-foot tall Cat in the Hat, an American Eagle, and Madeleine.
The parade goes on on rain or shine.
