Hundreds of family and friends came out for a fundraising event Saturday night to help support a loved one battling cancer.

Candice Martin of Southwick was diagnosed with lung cancer in February, which later spread to brain cancer.

Martin received rounds of radiation treatment and Chemotherapy to shrink the tumors.

She's had trouble paying the medical bills so her daughter organized a fundraising event at the West Springfield Elks Lodge.

“She's in high spirits she is a lovely person and she has done everything and this is just one thing I can give back to her,” said Sarah Wood, Martin’s daughter.

“Without the support of my family this is just incredible the outpouring of support,” said Martin.

Local businesses also donated items to be auctioned off.

The family hopes to raise 10,000 dollars to help cover the medical bills.
