PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) - A recount has confirmed that incumbent James Ruberto won
Pittsfield's mayoral election.
Ruberto's margin of victory was virtually unchanged after
all 13,215
ballots cast in the Nov. 3 election were
recounted by hand on Wednesday.
Challenger Daniel Bianchi had a net gain of two votes as
Ruberto won the recount 6,662 to 6,455.
The original results had Ruberto winning 6,658 to 6,449 in
one of the closest mayoral elections in city history.
Ruberto tells The Berkshire Eagle that he was confident the
recount would uphold him as the victor.
Bianchi had filed a recount claiming irregularities in how
the city's electronic voting machines tabulated the votes.
