BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts parks officials say ongoing cleanup efforts from
December's ice storm have delayed the opening of some of the
state's off-road vehicle trails.
The Department of Conservation and Recreation announced that
trails in the central and western parts of the state scheduled to
open Friday will probably not open until the end of the month.
Many are still blocked by debris and hanging tree limbs.
State crews, contractors and volunteers are clearing the trails.
They are in Beartown State Forest in Monterey; October
Mountain State Forest in Lee; Pittsfield State Forest; and Tolland
State Forest.
Off-road vehicle trails on Wrentham, Franklin, Freetown
State Forest and F. Gilbert Hills State Forest in Foxborough will
open as scheduled.
