Amherst police investigate hit and run

Blake Goodman, 21, of Wakefield killed

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Authorities from state and Amherst police spent all of Saturday night and early Sunday combing the crime scene for clues, trying to find the car responsible for a deadly hit and run.

According to Amherst Police, two men riding their bikes near 115 Montague Road when they were struck in the street by a car that sped off around 10:30 p.m.

21-year-old Blake Goodman and his friend, 24-year-old John Deary, were rushed to Cooley Dickenson Hospital, where Goodman was pronounced dead.

State police brought in their collision analysis team as well as a chemist for forensic work.

A section of Montague Road near the crime scene was closed due to the active investigation for several hours.

According to witnesses, the description of the vehicle in question is a sedan, possibly a Ford and black or dark in color.

It should be easy to spot with heavy damage to the passenger side of the front end, as well as the mirror on the same side.

The victim, Blake Goodman, was from Wakefield and a former student at UMass.

John Deary of Montague Road in Amherst was treated and released from the hospital with a leg injury.
