An emotional reunion for NICU parents

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center is booming with babies who have been given a second lease on life.

In 2008 there were 657 that babies treated in the NICU.

Saturday over 300 people, including babies, their families and Baystate Medical Center staff came together to celebrate their medical miracles.

The emotional reunion gives parents the opportunity to show off their healthy babies, reunite with the families, nurses, doctors they met in the NICU.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Medical Center is the only one in the region.
