LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a move designed to save money and prevent layoffs, but the plan to reconfigure the Ludlow Elementary School system may be put on hold now that one of the school committee members is in question.
Parents say they are against the plan because of the impact it will have on the kids.
"I don't think it is fair to the children to have to uproot them every two years, " Lisa Maynard said.
Thursday morning parents had another complaint about the reconfiguration plan.
The Board of Registrars reviewed paperwork that says Jacob Oliveria, a Ludlow School Committee member, is a resident of Framingham.
"By reading the evidence set before us, there was enough documentation that we decided to go forward," Ludlow Town Clerk Laruie Gibbons said.
During his campaign Oliveria said he lived at 67 Guertin Ave., which turns out to be his parent's home.
In May, Oliveria was one of three committee members to vote in favor of the reorganization.
Parents say if this is true, they want his vote revoked and the plan to be redesigned.
"If he is truly not a resident of this town then he should not be part of the school committee," Stacey Bingham said. "It should be rethought and decided. A new vote should be taken."
The board will meet again for a hearing at the end of the month.
