NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) -
One national charity is showing its thanks by making a
donation of its own.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts has provided Cooley Dickinson Hospital with a $20,000 grant.
The money was used to fund a newly renovated pediatric treatment room with updated equipment and furnishings. The room's underwater theme was created to help children remain calm and comfortable.
Daniel Ashburn of Ronald McDonald House Charities said the hospital's dedication to the health and well being of children is part of the Ronald McDonald House mission. "We thought this was a worthwhile cause, to help participate in building a room that would remove some of the barriers of fears from kids. That's what we're all about," stated Ashburn.
The hospital's pediatric activity room also received an update, with new playsets, a computer, games and art supplies. That renovation was made possible through private donations and volunteers.
