CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A community is on edge after a coyote attacked and killed a
4-month old puppy in broad daylight.
It happened around 8:00am Tuesday, Jack Arute was sitting at
his girlfriend’s kitchen table, on Oak Knoll Road in Hampden,
when he heard his dog yelping.
He ran out the back door only to find his 4-month old Basset Hound, Bob, being attacked by a coyote.
Dog owner Jack Arute told 22News, "It's just important for people to know there's something bad out there and be alert."
The wild animal ran in to the woods, but it wasn't long before
he was back for more. Sniffing the fresh blood that now coated the
ground.
The homeowner said she's lived there for 20 years and seen a
lot of wild animals run through her yard, but none as bold as this
one.
With Halloween being on Saturday, some parents fear this
dangerous animal may come face to face with their child.
Dr. Amber Cull-Fournier from the Hampden Vet Clinic offered these Halloween safety tips:
