22News Reporter Veronica Cintron was in East Longmeadow at one of the biggest Independence Day parades in our area.
The town of East Longmeadow salutes old glory on Independence Day.
The sea of red, white and blue set the tone for the annual 4th of July parade.
This family tradition attracts tens of thousands of people every year.
The turnout is estimated at 50 thousand.
The parade stepped off at Birchland Park Middle School.
An enthusiastic crowd lined up from Maple Shade Avenue to North Main and Maple Street all to watch some 2 thousand marchers.
One resident 22News spoke with set up her chairs the night before to secure a good spot along the parade route.
She says, this event is really about recognizing our servicemen and women.
“That's a huge thing, to cheer for them and tell them how much we appreciate them.”
