First annual Fall Food Preservation Day

Today is the first annual Fall Food Preservation Day in Massachusetts. Several communities are offering workshops on how to preserve locally grown food for the winter months.

The goal of these workshops is to help people save money during these tough times and to support local crops.

Workshops will cost around 50 dollars.

Here are the locations and details of each workshop in the Western Massachusetts area:

Cummington:
Cummington Community House, 33 Main Street, 9am-3pm. Space limited to 15 people.

Great Barrington:
Home of Fiona deRis, 1428 Hartsville-New Marlborough Road, 9am-3pm. Space limited to 12 people.

Northampton:
Town Farm, 1 Ventures Field Road, 9am-3pm. Space limited to 15 people.

Shelburne:
Home of Connie Clarke, 117 Old Greenfield Road, 9am-3pm.
Space limited to 12 people.

Springfield:
Home of Daniel Staub, 127 Marlborough Street, 9am-3pm.
Space limited to 15 people.
