Helicopter crashes in Lee, Mass.

LEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Three people were injured in the crash of a private helicopter in the Berkshire County town of Lee. 

The Chopper, contracted by Northeast utilkities to check power lines in the area, went down  Tuesday afternoon on Tyringham Road, not far from Interchange 2 of the Massachusetts Turnpike.

Lee Police Chief Ronald Glidden told 22News that a Lee police officer on nearby traffic detail, pulled two unconscious victims from the wreckage of the chopper.

The men were rushed to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where their conditions are unknown.

Authorities said the pilot was not injured in the crash.

Chief Glidden said the engine was still running, and what was left of the rotors were still turning during the rescue of the victims.
