HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A not guilty verdict today in the trial of a former Holyoke man
accused of fatally shooting two cousins at an all night party.
After two days of deliberations, a Hampden County Superior
Court Jury found Julio Garcia not guilty in connection with the
murders of cousins, Oswald and Daniel Velasquez.
They were fatally shot during an all night party on Elm
Street in December of 2003.
Defense attorney David Rountree told 22News he's delighted
with the verdict. He said he thinks it was the right verdict, and
the system worked.
Rountree says Garcia who spent the last three years in prison
was immediately released, and will be reunited with his family.
