NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - They're walking to find a cure.
22News has been keeping an eye on Hampshire County's Relay for Life.
Walkers who attended this event every year were happy to report a growing trend: as the technology gets better, it seems there are more and more proud survivors turning out to strut their stuff.
The American Cancer Society expected between 1,500 and 2,000 walkers in Northampton, and hopeed to raise $272,000.
"Something's going on, something positive is happening with this," says Angela Rodriguez of Conway, who is also a cancer survivor.
"Back in '91 i was 3 months pregnant, and diagnosed with sinus cancer which spread to my brain and eyes. I had 3 confirmed biopsies in 3 locations in Boston and Chicopee and i was miraculously healed."
After this past weekend, there will be one more Relay for Life event here in Western Massachusetts.
It is the weekend of June 26th and 27th at Belchertown High School.
