Pride of place was the theme in one Springfield neighborhood.

Volunteers and members of the Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services provided landscaping for new homes built on Tyler Street.  The Old Hill neighborhood is being targeted for revitalization. So far, four houses new houses have been built by the organization.  Three more houses are slated to be built this summer.

Organizers hope that other homeowners will be inspired by the cleanup and work to improve the quality of life on their streets.  The Old Hill neighborhood has been the scene of violent crime in the past.

Garcia Landscaping and the 16 Acres Garden Center provided services and planting products for the program.

Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services provides homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention and counseling as well as mortgage lending services.  For more information on how to purchase a home, call 413-739-4737.
