SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - This wet weather has been a breeding ground for bugs.

Mosquitoes and other small insects multiply in the standing water rain showers leave behind.

One Wilbraham resident told 22News he's seen an up tick in these pesky creatures during the past few days.

"I've seen more flies and mosquitoes flying around and buzzing everywhere. Certainly in the evening hours.
Sunrise and sunset are peak biting times for insects," David Magazu said.

Want to avoid becoming a meal for a mosquito?

Experts advise you to use bug repellent, and wear long sleeved shirts and pants when you're outside during dusk and dawn.
