SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Joe Hannigan recently got a letter in the mail from his former employer, Mass Mutual. It said his personal information might have been compromised.
It was information regarding his benefits which means his family's information could also be at risk.
Mass Mutual has offered free credit checks for a few years, but that won't protect him from identity theft. It will only let him know if someone is using his information as a result impacting his credit.
Mass Mutual's Jim Lacey confirmed for 22News "a limited amount of personal employee information maintained in a database by an outside vendor engaged by the company may have been subject to unauthorized access."
