Agawam mayoral candidates face-off

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Agawam residents packed the Agawam Middle School Thursday night to watch their mayoral candidates face-off in a debate.

The Agawam Forum Committee hosted the Mayoral candidate preliminary election debate.

All seven candidates on the ballot took part, working to rally support ahead of October's primary election.

The primary will narrow the field for the mayor's race down to two candidates.

Candidates include Agawam Mayor Susan Dawson, former Mayor Richard Cohen, City Council Vice President Cecilia Calabrese, Peter Beaudry, Alan Griffin, Paul Carvalho and Derek Benton.

Voters will head to the polls for the primary on October 6th.
