SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Two Springfield police officers charged with stealing money out of the wallets of three men during a traffic stop are headed to trial.

Testimony in the larceny trial of Leonardo Matos and Steven Buzzell is scheduled to start Wednesday in Hampden Superior Court, following jury selection on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say the officers took almost $2,000 out of the wallets of three men who were in the same car that they pulled over in June 2008.

The officers have pleaded not guilty to three counts of larceny each.

They were both suspended without pay pending the outcome of their case.
