SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - An investigation is underway in Southwick after a car driven by
a 14 year-old boy crashed, killing him and his 14 year-old friend,
and injuring the other driver.
The accident happened on Vining Hill Road around 9:30 p.m. on
Wednesday.
According to a news release from Southwick Police, a 2001
Volkswagon, operated by two 14-year old boys, collided head-on with
another car at the intersection of Ed Holcomb Road. The Volkswagon
ran off the road and came to a rest on its side. The boys, both
from Southwick, were killed instantly. Neither of them were wearing
seatbelts.
The driver of the other car, Jessica Nehmer of Southwick, was
taken to Baystate Medical Center, where she was treated and
released.
Southwick Police have not released any details about why
these two boys were driving the car. In Massachusetts, you must be
16 1/2 years old to get a drivers license.
The two boys were freshmen at Southwick Tolland High School.
Guidance councilors have been available to the students there.
