FEEDING HILLS, Mass. (WWLP) - Car enthusiasts geared up for Sunday's Pioneer Valley GTO classic car show in Feeding Hills.
It wasn't just enthusiasts though, casual visitors by the hundreds used the event to turn back the clock to a time when muscle cars ruled the road and gas was just a little bit cheaper.
Nostalgia buffs told 22News that the cars of the time were even more fuel efficient than you might expect.
"Actually, many of these cars are very fuel efficient. Because by being taken care of so well they're not like old cars that don't get good mileage. Many of these cars get better mileage then some of the new cars that people don't take care of," said Ike Prokop of West Warren.
Promoters got plenty of mileage out of their show. All of the proceeds went to help save Springfield's Shriners Hospital and to help fight breast cancer.
