CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The summer festival season, like the Summer itself, is off to a
soggy start. Damp weather put a bit of a damper on opening night
for the 4-Day Fest-Of-All at Szot Park in Chicopee.
There were no lines for the Bounce House, Fried Dough,
Chicken Wings or Pizza.
The weather didn't bother long time Festival-goers. But
concessionaires had hoped they'd be busier.
JoAnne Baldwin, who's selling pizza and Calzones said it was
"Dead.... very, very slow." But she was optimistic about the
weekend: "On the weekend it's supposed to be nice, so yeah.
Saturday. Sunday. Not tonight. I have no hope for tonight."
Erin Gleason has been to all of the Fest-Of-Alls and says a
little wet weather didn't bother her: "No. I always come no matter
what. I was planning on rain!"
Chicopee resident Shane Brooks said it was a good opportunity
to showcase Chicopee: "I think that the spirit of Chicopee will
come through. A lot of folks from Chicopee and surrounding
communities will come out. Very affordable time. For a non-profit,
it's a lotta fun. Great food choices. Great entertainment."
Fest-of-all runs through July 5th at Szot Park; Friday and
Saturday from 11:00AM to 1:00PM, and Sunday 11:00AM to 7:00PM.
Admission and the entertainment are free.
