SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) - Brad Deschaine grew up in Springfield and still lives in the
city. But he told 22News he has seen negative changes over the
years due to crime.
The Diocese of Springfield along with many other area
churches are stepping up to the call of duty.
During the Blue Mass at St. Michael's church in Springfield,
the bishop honored police and fire departments across the region.
He also spoke about creating a safer community and stopping
the wave of violence in Springfield.
Springfield Police commissioner, William Fitchett, told
22News the clergy is an arm of power in local neighborhoods and can
positively help to influence change.
On November 22nd religious leaders will set aside a day of
prayer in hopes to end the violence that's plaguing the city.
