(WWLP) - The "Cash for Clunkers" program officially ends Monday night at
8pm. Time is running out to turn in your car for a $3,500 to $4,500
rebate.
Dealers must have all their clunker deals submitted to the
government website by 8pm on Monday in order to be reimbursed.
If you plan on buying Monday, the advice is to do so early.
The government is halting the program to not exceed the $3
billion already budgeted.
Bill Richard of Lia Toyota said the program greatly boosted
sales for their dealership. He also said he's looking forward to
this weekend.
"We've seen the business taper off but only slightly so I
suspect there's still a fair amount of business out there. So
therefore, I'm expecting this to be a pretty busy weekend at the
dealership," said Richard.
The government has guaranteed dealer they will be reimbursed
for the trade-ins as long as all forms are properly submitted
before the deadline at 8pm Monday.
