It was a march across America on Sunday as hundreds of thousands pounded the pavement to stamp out hunger.
2,000 CROP walks were held around the nation. Locally, walks in Springfield and Belchertown drew throngs of walkers to support the cause.
More than 300 socially committed men, women and teenagers walked from Trinity United Methodist church on Sumner Avenue in Springfield to raise money to feed the hungry.
Sunday's event marked the 31st annual CROP walk in Springfield. Participants told 22News, they're passionately behind the longtime goal.
"I'm doing it to help all the the hungry people in our area and throughout the world," said Springfield's Judy Milano.
22News meteorologist Brian Lapis continued his commitment to the cause of wiping out hunger.
Brian served as master of ceremonies and participated in the walk through Springfield's Forest park neighborhood.
The walk raised $20,000, 30% more than last year.
