SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Commonwealth is trying to make it easier for you to drive on
local highways this holiday weekend and beyond.
On Thursday the Patrick-Murray administration announced that
Mass Highway's internal system of 70 live traffic cameras will be
available for public viewing on the web.
That means, depending on where you're going, you'll be able
to go online to literally see the flow of traffic before you hit
the road.
The 'traffic cam' some in our area would be most interested
in is perched high above the mass pike, I-84 interchange near
Sturbridge.
One local resident told 22News that the cameras are a great
idea.
"Well, for the commuters, I would think that's a benefit if
they have access to the camera readily available, ah maybe get a
bypass around a traffic jam," said Christopher Griffin.
The entire network of Massachusetts traffic cameras should
be available for online viewing by Friday.
